VC5 Colo Cabinet, 31.5"W x 48"D
Colocation facilities often have SMB clients that require the same level of security and uptime that larger enterprise clients demand, but they don’t need a full cabinet to house their equipment. This presents multiple challenges for colocation providers, including a potential reduction in space utilization (using a full cabinet that is half empty) or increasing capital expenditures when an SMB grows out of a half cabinet or vacates the facility, forcing the data center to purchase an additional standard cabinet.
Like most colocation cabinets, Vericom’s VC5 Colocation Cabinet is designed to securely store ICT equipment for two tenants within the footprint of a single cabinet (eliminating the problem of space utilization). However, the VC5 Colocation Cabinet is also engineered to convert back to a standard, single tenant cabinet to accommodate changes in future business needs (eliminating unused cabinets and/ or the expense of buying additional cabinets). With the VC5 Colocation Cabinet, colocation providers are able to cost effectively service a wide range of tenants by maximizing space utilization and minimizing cabinet expenditures.
Benefits:
Secure Cable Pathways
- Vertical cable ducts provide a secure pathway for routing cables to each compartment to prevent tampering. Each duct is divided into two channels, providing separate pathways for data and power cables and/or A and B feeds. Exit holes in the ducts face the front, back, and inside of the cabinet for maximum flexibility in routing cables to equipment.
Top or Bottom Cable Entry
- Vertical cable ducts are reversible to accommodate overhead or under floor cable routing.
Innovative Door Design
- Vericom’s unique colo door design combines the convenience of complete access to the entire cabinet by facility personnel with the security of individual tenant access to each compartment. Tenant doors open individually and independently, while the manager’s door opens the entire cabinet.
Combination Door Locks
- Tenants are able to set their own passcode combination to access and secure their compartment, while a key override allows facility personnel to access the entire cabinet. This system greatly simplifies key management for the colo facility.
Independent Rail Depth
- Separate sets of equipment mounting rails for the top and bottom compartments allow each tenant to set their own rail depth (infinitely adjustable up to 30.3”).
Consistent Unified Design
- Built on the VC5 cabinet platform, this colocation cabinet provides a consistent appearance when ganged in a row of same-size standard VC5 cabinets.
Half Height Side Panels
- VC5 half-height side panels maintain airflow integrity and provide security from adjacent cabinets. Optional pass-through side panels allow potential tenant expansion into an adjacent cabinet without having to remove existing equipment.
